England’s Forgotten Muslim History

I came up with the idea for Swagger in August 2016 and began to brainstorm ideas with my dear friends Kimberly Gladman Jackson and Laurie Moore Skillings about the intimate relationship between William Shakespeare and the Muslim Ambassador from Morocco.

Just a few weeks later a fascinating article appeared in the New York Times that highlighted “England’s Forgotten Muslim History.” 

It was about Queen Elizabeth I’s progressive move to create alliances with Muslim rulers, and even refers to the Moroccan Ambassador.

Was this just coincidence…?
